Simon Pfenning wins Outstanding Paper Award at the 20th International Conference on Applied Computing
For his paper entitled „Evaluation of GPU-Centric Embedded Architectures in the Field of Neuromuscular EMG-Based AI“ Mr. Pfenning and his Co-Authors Raul Simpetru, Niklas Pollak, Alessandro Del Vecchio and Dietmar Fey received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 20th International Conference on Applied Computing on October 23rd in Funchal, Madeira.
The work covers principles of optimizing a neural network for hand position recognition on an embedded NVidia GPU Platform. It is the first collaboration between the Chair for Computer Architceture and the Neuromuscular Physiology and Neural Interfacing (N-squared) Lab.
The results and findings of this work will be used in an upcoming project called NOE-EMY funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In this project both partners will develop a new AI controlled orthesis for disabled people. The controll board and the application adapted architecture will be developed at the chair for Computer Architecture.
